My work explores and challenges/questions our own understanding of community, compassion, and resiliency.    particularly in the ‘Off Main Street’ neighborhoods, in the cities and towns where we live, work, and play. 

 

Respectfully Yours is a series of photographs surrounding a community bicycle organization that does more than put bikes into the hands of low-income families, homeless individuals, veterans, the formerly incarcerated, refugees, and others who live on the edge.  It is a hub of neighborhood engagement and growth. It is a wonderful, welcoming, and thriving place, 

 

When a viewer is confronted with the reality of these photographs, I am interested in creating a dialogue, one that looks beyond the texture of the red brick structures, and one that sees deeper into the texture of their lives.

 

Perhaps the viewer will be informed or be inspired by this community and reflect on what is our common humanity.
